Blocks in Drupal 5
Blocks in Drupal are designated areas in your theme. You use these to customize the look of your site. You may not want to menu on the left... you want it on the right. Or recent comments you want to show below the menu. Blocks are how you designate what and where you want these types of items in Drupal.
The standard theme has five blocks. You use these blocks to specify where you want your menus, mission, comments, etc. You can have menus on the right, or left, or in the header for an example.
To see what blocks are available for your specific theme, you need to go to the Site Building menu and then to Blocks. All of the blocks will be shown for the theme you are using. All themes have different regions designated as blocks and different amount of blocks. Roopletheme has some nice themes that have more than a dozen blocks. You will also see a lost of all the content that you can move around to different blocks. If you want to move some content on your Drupal site, just select which block you want it to show in and submit it. It's that easy.
