Drupal 5 Overview - Build a website in 10 minutes

So what is Drupal? What can you do with it? And what is a Content Management System (CMS)? I hope to answer these question, at least on a most basic level, by building a website in minutes using Drupal.

What is a Node in Drupal?

A lot of people get confused on what a node is in Drupal. I know I was when I first started using Drupal. This video hopes to clarify what a node is for those who are confused.

Basically it comes down to this: A node is a single piece of content that is published on a Drupal site.

If it is content... such as stories, videos, images, pages, etc... it is a node. If you create your own content types, those would be nodes as well.

I hope this clarifies the term for people who are new to Drupal. If you have any comments, please leave them below. Drupal rocks!

Separating Content From Design

Separating the content from design. What do I mean by this? A good Content Management System (such as Drupal) will allow you to separate these two elements in your website. The reason you would want to do this is it makes it real easy to change the look from a simple update to a complete redesign without having to worry about the content. Your content is completely separate from the look. Drupal takes this approach fully.
